It’s been a terrific 2014-2015 school year so far! Can you believe we’re already looking ahead to fall break? This year, fall break for continuous calendar schools falls between Sept. 22 and Oct. 10. Students at 35 Des Moines schools and three learning centers can now eat breakfast and lunch at no cost because of a special U.S. Dept. of Agriculture program targeting high poverty schools throughout the U.S. The move will ensure students are focused on learning and not on hunger. Students at 19 elementary schools, including River Woods Elementary, will adjust their schedule by 10 minutes this fall. It’s a move that will give bus drivers much needed time to get from school to school.
