Feathers Returns From the Moon!
The theme at River Woods Elementary this year has been “Defying Gravity”, and nobody took that theme more literally than Feathers the mascot. Using a rocket fueled by time students spent reading, Feathers was able to complete a round trip to the moon and back. In order to make it happen, students read a total of 477,800 minutes this school year! A day of celebration was held in recognition of this major accomplishment which included outside games, frozen treats, dance parties with Feathers, and even a visit from Jill Friestad-Tate, author of “Messages on the Moon”. There’s no telling what Feathers will be up to next, but we can be sure it will involve lots of learning and plenty of excitement and fun!
